Hey there, this is GKR.
I am a bit emotional right now. I just read the book that will forever be in my heart.
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson, the biography of Steve Jobs. This is also one of the biggest books that I have read, it is about 550+ pages. I am always a fan of Apple (even though I could not afford to buy any product from Apple)
The creativity of Apple is the best known. I always wondered how a company could be this creative in innovating products. I didn't know much about the CEOs who changed the world but then I decided to take up a challenge. I went to the book store nearby, purchased the top ten biographies that I could buy about the greatest CEOs of all time.
One such book was Steve Jobs. In my childhood, all I knew about Steve Jobs was for his arrogance. In 2011, when the entire world was crying for the death of this famous innovator, I had no idea who he was. I was very much interested in cricket rather than in technology.
It was in 2019 that I decided it was time to know more about the world of business. The ten books that I bought had all the famous CEOs that I had heard of but it was tough to choose between which book to read first. I finally settled for reading this book about Steve Jobs.
It was September 2019, Apple launched its new iPhone 11. The hype was intense and I was envious of everyone who bought the phone. My favourite Youtuber MarqueBrownlee, a fan of Apple, inspired me to take up this challenge to know more about the world of technology.
Thus I started with Steve Jobs, the man who brought computers and smartphones to our lives.
In 2018, I had watched a film and a documentary about Steve Jobs. I did not understand much as I was lacking in knowledge about technology but I realised that Steve Jobs played an important role in the development of this world digitally.
I started reading the book in November 2019. The pulpy book was an interesting read though. It had so much information that I had to pause, take notes to remember the most important details. I was in a reading sprint.
The book showed me everything that happened in the man's life, from his birth till death. Every page was like every day of his life. Eventually, I started as a guy with zero intelligence in technology to a guy with immense knowledge about technology in this one book.
Here is what I learnt in this book.
"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They are not fond of rules. They have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. They push the human race forward. While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do."
The book will inspire you, motivate you, create a new perspective of life for you, make you creative, make you feel worthy and in the end, will make you cry for the man who died a heroic death after changing the world. He was no warrior, he was not god, he was a man who saw things differently, believed he could change the world and did as he expected.
A must-read for anyone out there, no matter who you are and who you want to be. Steve Jobs legacy prevails!
