Think and Win like DHONI

Hey there, this is GKR.

Is there a sport more famous than cricket in India?

Obviously no.
Cricket is a part of life in the Indian subcontinent. People here are all obsessed with this sport in a way that no other nation can match the love or care every fan shows towards a single cricket match in India. One of the major reasons for the upheaval of the sport in this country is because of the world cup victory in the year 1983 under Kapil Dev's captaincy. By then end of the eighties, a teenager just made his debut in international cricket, Sachin Tendulkar.

Yet again fans were overwhelmed by the sport and became addicts to cricket just to watch Sachin score a boundary. Unlike Kapil Dev in1983, Sachin for about twenty years of his cricketing journey failed to hold the world cup trophy. He played under the captaincy of Azharuddin, Ganguly, Dravid and also captained the team himself for few matches, yet was not able to take home the trophy. Sachin, being one of the greatest players of all time in cricket feared that he might retire without accomplishing his dream. Fans were disappointed, 2007 world cup was a disaster, the BCCI board wanted a change to overcome their failure. If Sachin was to retire without a world cup, it would hurt not just him but a billion Indians all over the world.
Then came the 20-20 International cricket world cup which for the first time consisted of just twenty overs per team. The board decided to introduce a young player as the captain, who had only played for three years in the Indian team. This tall, manly individual with long hair set out to become the greatest captain of all time who finally gave Sachin what he wanted, the WORLD CUP.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni!

Right after the 2007 T20 world cup, Dhoni decided to take the world by storm. He made a huge change in the Indian cricket team which later lead him to smash the world cup winning six in Mumbai, 2011.
What was it that Dhoni had which the other Indian captains missed? How did Dhoni being so calm and cool win the world cup? How did Dhoni being a wicket-keeper become ICC's number one ODI batsman?

I read this book, THINK AND WIN LIKE DHONI by Sfurti Sahare. The book focuses on five main reasons why Dhoni was able to succeed in his life. Unlike other biography books about Dhoni, this book features all the success tips Dhoni himself personally follows to succeed in his life.
"I believe in giving more than 100% on the field and I don't really worry about the results. If there's a great commitment on the field, that's a victory for me." - M.S.Dhoni
He also says, "Staying in the moment is my mantra of success. I just go from one moment to another, that's the only thing in my head."

A book that inspires you and teaches you how to become successful, just like how Dhoni did. A must-read book for all great dreamers out there!
Have a good read!

Disappointing Biographies

Hey there, this is GKR . I love both Sundar Pichai and Satya Nadella and so I wanted to know more about their childhood and their passions. I just completed reading the so-called biography of Satya Nadella by Jagmohan S.Bhanver. The book is titled "Nadella - The changing face of Microsoft." But the book talks more about Steve Balmer than Nadella.  Satya Nadella is indeed a guy who prefers a private life but the facts in the book are too general that we can read in Wikipedia. This is not a review blog but I can say for sure that this book is not worth the time and money. The same author has also written the book "Pichai - The future of Google." This book is about Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet. This book has some valuable information about the man himself but still lacks the same flow of the read. It starts with great information about his childhood but then suddenly dives into the lives of other Google employees and founders of Google r...

E-books versus Paperbacks

Hey there, this is GKR . There is always a dilemma for beginners if they should buy a book as a paperback or buy a Kindle device to read the books as E-books. I prefer paperbacks. It is fun to hold the book in your hand while reading. It feels real. But it also comes with some disadvantages like cost, weight etc. Let me brief you about my experience in using Kindle for reading and buying paperbacks for reading. Advantages of Paperbacks: You get the feel of actually reading and completing the book. Turning pages feels like a reward. Paperback books smell good. It boosts your motivation to read more. Does not require batteries or electricity to read These books if preserved well will be with you in your library for a lifetime. Advantages of Kindle/E-reader: It is small and convenient It can hold thousands of books Books are cheaper Easy to take your device while on travel Easy to read in low light Paperbacks take up a lot of space whereas Kindle ...

Books versus Films

Hey there, this is GKR . In this era, people who watch films and series are more than that of the people who read books. Game of Thrones and Harry Potter has more viewers as a Film and Series but has fewer readers comparatively as book series. Why is this difference important? It is important because people do not understand how books can change their lives. They do not understand how books can create an impact on how they live, how they work and how they die. Let me give you an insight. Disadvantages of watching a film adaptation of novels: It destroys your imagination There is a lot of detailing in books than in films/series. Lots of character flaws can be found in films as they have less time to get deeper into character emotions You get to spend less time with the characters and the story Technical flaws in the film/series might make the story fail. For example if the visual effects are not par with the imagination of the original author then it fails. There is ...
